I read a lot of blogs, I should be more productive but I can’t help it. I see all these lovely pretty blogs like Alicia who blogs Posie Gets Cozy or Sally who blogs Shim + sons. I love their style, I secretly or not so secretly wish I lived in a little cottage or had such a clean style with everything in it’s place. Of course I’ll never be like either of them, I’m me… I crazy silly punk girl who sports a pink mohawk and makes cupcakes in the flavors of cough syrup for bands lucky enough to be my friends ;)

I don’t really try to fit in with all the crafty bloggers but I also really censor myself here because honestly this is where I promote the things I make and sell. I don’t want to step on toes or make people feel icky about it. At the same time it’s hard to avoid who I am.

Here is to me trying to let everyone in more and stop worrying so much that people will be offended.

This is the project I’ve been working on FOREVER. I swear I thought I would have been done with it months ago but it’s done now thanks to the plastic pellet stuffing. Now they just need to be packed up and shipped out to Wunderland War.

I have some other bean bags in the works which I’m sure everyone will love. I just need some pink, cream and red fabric and some white ink.

I’m also working on the super secret project for my soon to be born baby nephew. I can’t post what it is or photos because it’s a surprise for my sister and I know she reads this from time to time but as soon as the baby shower happens I’ll be sure to post tons of photos.

Now to get back to watching TV shows on DVD because we are getting rid of cable and I need to unwind a bit.

I have so much to do. Piles and piles of wallets, bags half finished, bean bags that need to be packaged and shipped out. I swear I’ll get to it all, for now I’m going to pout and doodle.

I know I’ve been scarce the past few days/weeks, for that I’m really sorry. My sweet husband has been ill and trying to get to the bottom of it has been very trying. Tomorrow he goes in for surgery and will be out of work for a week. I’m very worried about it and I’m trying my hardest to stay busy and not think about it.

I’m sure I’ll be back in no time, I do have tons of stuff to share, just no time to do it.

Carrot Cake Cupcakes

After the husband brought home a piece of awful carrot cake from a local bakery I became hell bent on making GREAT carrot cake. I of course am not a big cake person it’s the whole slice thing so I figured I’d make some cupcakes.

I have more tweaking to do still but so far it’s so very moist and the frosting is just perfect. It’s not too sweet, not too buttery or cheesy. As soon as I try the other part that I want to add I’ll post the recipe.

I also love these cute cupcake papers, they say cupcake right on them. I believe I got them at AC Moore but I have seen them in other places.

I haven’t really been up to anything else, my sweet husband has been feeling pretty ill so we’ve been taking it easy. I’m hoping he feels better soon.

SCORE!!!

I purchased this machine for my husband at target on clearance. I got it for 22 bucks!!! Now I can have some help with my sewing. I still can’t believe I scored a really nice manual sewing machine for under 25 dollars. I’ve looked at the other Targets in the area and have not found anymore so I guess this was my jem of a deal for the month.

I’m glad the weekend is here, I have so much to do and it feels like no matter how much I chip away the pile doesn’t get any smaller.

Here is a photo of my little man, he’s on the floor right now pouncing on the nub of a bone I found while vacuuming the couch.

I have this thing for cereal, I could eat it for every meal and never get bored with it. What I love more than cereal is something sweet made from cereal. I took some of my favorite sugar cereals and made marshmallow yummies out of them.

Making them is easy, equal parts cereal and mini marshmallows and some butter. Depending on the size of the box of cereal depends on the amount of butter so I would say for the anywhere from half a stick for 5.5 cups of cereal and 5.5 cups of marshmallows to a whole stick for twice that.

Melt the butter over low heat and then add marshmallows, stir till completely melted. Pour over cereal and combine. I then press mine into a greased glass pan or you could get creative and use greased cookie molds.

While I was home I tried to get in all the yummy greasy foods I would eat while I lived there. Who would have thought that something as simple as dough fried in fat would be so freaking awesome.

Dough Boys

These yummy little gobs of deep fried goodness are what Rhode Islanders call dough boys. I was first introduced to them when I was a child. We would get them in the summer at Rocky Point Park and they were just about the best snack to have while running from ride to ride. The sugar provided enough energy to keep you happy and zooming around.

They were much larger as a child, I swear they were. I bought two dozen of these babies and had half in sugar cinnamon and half in the classic powdered sugar. I ate far too many and would have eaten more if I wasn’t so old and unable to metabolize the sugar faster.

Dough Boys

If you are curious and really want to try these it’s very simple. Get yourself some dough or make some, I’d say the dough is just a simple pizza dough. Pull off pieces a bit larger than a golf ball and flatten them out by stretching like a little mini pizza. Then submerge them in hot oil and fry to golden brown. As soon as they come out of the fryer toss them in a paper bag and dump in the sugar, close the bag and shake to cover.

My mouth is watering just thinking about them. YUMMM!

I was so excited when I heard the knock on the door and the dogs whip themselves into a frenzy of barking and jumping. There was only one reason for the knock and that is the arrival of the much anticipated book “I Love Handicraft - 56 Craft Creators’ Interview and DIY Tips”.

After rounding up the dogs and signing for the books I had to tear into the envelope to get at the crafty goodness. I’m so thrilled with it, and I’m honored that I’ve gotten to take part among all these talented crafters.

My contribution was a tutorial on how to make a magazine holder for your Craft Magazines. I think it turned out great and I can’t wait to have a friend translate it for me.

If I go missing I’ll be in my studio gluing and sewing. =)
