Pincushion and Embroidery

I’ve been going in a little bit of a different direction with my sewing. I’ve put down the vinyl for a little while and picking up some linen and cotton.

First is a pincushion I made, it’s a burlap type material, cotton from a fat quarter, a button and some textured fiber ribbon to use for hanging. I like to hang my pincushions on the wall and keep them off my desk with not in use.

I also found matching pins. I’m a little nutty like that.

The other thing I’ve been working on which I haven’t done in a super long time is embroidery. I found this cute owl motif and I wanted to give one a try before I make a kitchen curtain with them on it.

I just do the stitches that I feel, give it texture and keep it from looking boring.

Close up, the camera made it look a lot more yellow than it should, you can tell the difference from the two photos but I just wanted a better picture of the stitches.

The curtains are going to look super cute.

I wish I had more hot iron embroidery patterns, I wanted flowers but I don’t really know where to look. I also want to learn how to make my own, anyone know of any good resources?
